Privacy Policy

What Marvin does

Marvin finds social-media conversations relevant to your product on supported social platforms (currently Reddit; X and LinkedIn are coming soon), emails you a digest of the ones worth joining, and helps you draft replies in your own voice via a Chrome extension. Marvin drafts only - it never posts, sends, or publishes anything on your behalf.

Data we collect

We collect only what the product needs to work:

  • Account information - your name, email address, and sign-in identity, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • Profile and product information you provide during onboarding - your role, bio, writing-voice preferences, product name, URL, and description, your customer profile (personas, pain points, positioning), and your marketing goal.
  • Configuration - which channels Marvin watches and your email delivery preferences (cadence, hour, timezone).
  • Public social content - posts and threads Marvin discovers on supported social platforms while scanning for conversations relevant to you. This is publicly available content.
  • Drafts and replies - the reply drafts Marvin generates with you, your chat messages while refining them, and (best-effort) the reply you actually posted. Posted replies are themselves public content on the platform where you posted them; we keep a copy so your history is accurate and future drafts better match how you write.
  • Usage data - how you interact with the Marvin web app and Chrome extension (pages viewed, features used, actions taken), collected through our analytics provider (PostHog) to help us improve the product.

The Chrome extension

The extension reads the content of the social-media post and thread you are currently viewing on supported social platforms (currently reddit.com) - only when you use it to draft a reply there. That full post and thread content is sent to Marvin’s servers, where it is used to generate and refine your reply draft. The extension uses browser cookie access solely to share your existing gomarvin.run sign-in session, and local storage for its own state.

Beyond the drafting data above and basic product-usage analytics (which extension features you use), the extension does not collect anything: it does not track your browsing history, does not read pages on other sites, and cannot post on your behalf. Data handled by the extension is used only to provide and improve the drafting feature and is never sold or used for advertising.

How we use your data

Your data is used for one core purpose: finding conversations relevant to your product and helping you draft replies. Concretely, we use it to score discovered posts against your customer profile, generate and refine reply drafts in your voice, send you email digests you asked for, and show your engagement history. We additionally collect basic product-usage analytics to understand how you use Marvin features and improve the product.

Draft generation and relevance scoring use large language models. The relevant context (your product profile and the thread being discussed) is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to produce scores and drafts. Our providers do not use your data to train their models.

We do not sell your data, share it with data brokers, or use it for advertising.

Service providers

Marvin runs on a small set of infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Clerk - authentication and account management
  • Vercel - application hosting
  • Neon - database hosting
  • Anthropic - AI drafting and relevance scoring
  • Firecrawl - web search used for conversation discovery and analyzing your product URL
  • Resend - sending your digest emails
  • PostHog - product analytics that help us understand how Marvin is used so we can improve it

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. To delete your account and all associated data, email marvin@gomarvin.run and we will remove it within 30 days.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar browser storage for authentication (keeping you signed in) and for product analytics (understanding how Marvin is used). No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children

Marvin is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and note the new effective date below. Significant changes will also be announced by email.
